Subiect: The study focuses on the first of the symposium themes: Value and Relevance - Museum vs Community. The paper deals with a notorious issue of museum practice, identity and knowlegde paradigm dynamics. It is a short reflection on the dialectics of the historical pair of paradigms, curiositas et repraesentatio, pointing out early and actual positions and experiences of the European museum
cu/ture; considering also other paradigm pairs and their dynamics, including that of Value and Relevance, in recent museum practice. The aim of this study is to reflect more accurately on object selection, on the other hand, to achieve a better understanding of the museum as an unique display/medium.
