Subiect: In the paper are analysed some toponimics of the town of Piatra Neamţ, looking for their origin. Here are some names of places and their presumptive origins: Bâtca Doamnei – „bâtcă” - means an elevation of the ground, a hillock, a hill (see the note 1) or a fortification, a fortress (see the note 2); Cârloman - Charlemagne (Charles the Great; see the note 4); Sărata and the rivulet Slatina - mean places with salt, where we take salt from; Cozla - means goat; Borzoghean - means fast, quickly; Cuiejdiu - means „of stone”; Gârcina - a Greek woman; Cernegura - the black mountain; Bahrin - bear ; Prăsila - a cleared place good for agriculture ; Şterghinosul - a quick torrent; Bolovoaia - a platform; Oghilog - a foot wrap; Cut - a fountain; Potocină - a big stream with a quick flood, a torrent; Mărăţei – „male habitus”.
