Subiect: The Stalin Region literacy campaign at the beginning of the second five year plan
The study presents aspects of the literacy campaign conducted during 1956 in the
Stalin Region, using information kept in the files of the People's Council-Education Section.Although the elimination of illiteracy was a goal in the first of the five years plan, at the beginning of the second Five Year Plan, problems persisted, despite the clarification or the propaganda carried out by the authorities. There were neither sufficient teachers or manuals, and many illiterate people were rejecting the literacy campaign. At the beginning of 1957, the authorities wanted to reactivate the campaign.
