Subiect: The article presents Nicoara Baltag's rise, an early 17th century career. Married with Todosia, the sister of future ruler Miron Barnovschi, and thus akin with the Movilesti family, he has an early access to functions. The turning point of his career is 1614 when the he remains with Stefan Tomsa, and as reward became governor of Ţăra de Sus and received a lot of villages. Then managed to keep the balance in power struggles, until the coming at the throne of Miron Barnovschi and succeeded to gained an impressive wealth in a relatively short but extremely cloudy time. His case is indicative of increasing manorial domain in 17th century.
