Subiect: This study presents the place and the role of portrait and self-portrait in contemporary painting in laşi, starting with the fact that this identifies itself, for the plastic arts in Iaşi, with Corneliu Baba who succeeded in resetting it in its rights through a minute analysis of the character, which becomes evidence together with the (technic) adequate technical means in the achieving of the physiognomic al image proper to the investigated subject.
