Subiect: In January 1780, 230 years ago, it passed into eternity Chesarie, the Bishop of Ramnic. Recognizing the role of the intellectual elites in the evolution of the society, and remarking Chesarie of Râmnic as an important representative of the Romanian intellectuals of the eighteenth century, I considered it was necessary a call to memory. This article is an invitation to explore the Romanian history of the eighteenth century. It is, at the same time, an attempt to illustrate the complexity of the era, called by Nicolae Iorga "Chesarie’s age" and the age of the personality of the enlightened bishop from Ramnic, Chesarie: vlada, patriot, diplomat, scholar.
