- Subiect: Leather processing is one of the oldest human occupations. Being used from early times to protect the body, it comes to be processed and decorated by specialized craftsmen. We know that, in the Country of Olt besides agriculture, the animal breeding had an important role and the sheep breeding on rich Carpathian pastures favored the emergence and development of handicraft weaving of wool and leather. Leather processing craft, developed in connection with the living needs of a population of farmers and breeders was first practiced in the farms, then in the specialized workshops. Their products were objects of consumption for the community they were living in, and later to become commodity, and they started to produce it more and more in order to sell it to a larger society. The craft was practiced in the family and it was inherited.
