Subiect: In the summer of 2008, two fragments of bronze statues were found in the Island no. 3, located to the West side of the Forum Vetus in the Colonia Dacica Sarmizegetusa. The first of those pieces is the head of the Roman god Mercurius and the second represents a rooster. Although the context of this discovery (a modern pit) does not help us much, the combination of the two objects is a very interesting one. Mercury has been connected in many cases with the rooster, the bird which accompanies the divinity when it guides the dead souls in the afterlife.
