Subiect: According to UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding the lntangible Cultural
Heritage adopted an October 17, 2003 in Paris and to the Law No 26/ February 29,
2008 adopted by the Romanian Parliament regarding the preserving of intangible or immaterial heritage "the intangible cultural heritage means the practices,
representations, expressions, knowledge, skills - as well as the instruments, objects, artefacts and cultural spaces associated therewith - that communities, groups and, in some cases, individuals recognize as part of their cultural heritage".
Mărginimea Sibiului (region made up of the villages around the city of Sibiu) is known as a representative area for its elements of Romanian traditional art that were genuinely preserved along the time and were handed down towards the new
generations. lt is a real ecomuseum, a region bordered nat by its geographical limits, but by its cultural identity that is emphasized by the harmony between landscape, people, architecture, history, agriculture, old traditional crafts and customs. „ASTRA" Museum through its Programme that comprises various folk festivals and fairs of traditional arts and crafts safeguards since 1983 everything that is related to the immaterial patrimony, especially the traditional crafts.
Recently were developed two important projects that have as goal the touristic
promotion of the villages around Sibiu. Thus, were issued two bilingual brochures:
Discover Sadu, a Genuine Transylvanian Village/ Sadu, grădină mândră and
Traditional Crafts Road/ Drumul Meşteşugurilor Tradiţionale în Mărginimea
Sibiului that present for both Romanian and foreign tourists the traditional crafts and
customs preserved till nowadays.
