Subiect: The Analysis of the Wooden Parts (Elements) resulting from a Dacian Cask (the 1st century A .C.) from Gradiştea Muncelului
By means of the archaeological diggings, at Grădiştea Muncelului, a water-catching plant composed by sewers and a cask made by boards caught in hoops was discovered.
A fragment of a board was prepared to become elastic, being kept in a Strasburger-Fleming solution during three months. When the board acquired an adequate elasticity, thin sections were made in the transversal (cross-cut), tangential and radial plane. The anatomical study of the thin section orientated (in crosscut, tangential and radial plane) led to the decision of placing the researched wooden material at ,,Picea abies" (= P.excelsa) (= Common spruce).
