Subiect: Sculptures by Albert Ernest Carrier-Belleuse in Ghita Ionescu hause of Ploiesti
Carrier-Belleuse was one of the most prodigious and versatile French sculptors active during the second half of the nineteenth century. He played an especially important role in the decorative arts, being one of the major artists of the Salon. Carrier was at the origin of industrial design improvement. In Romania, Carrier created the equestrian statue of Mihai Viteazul placed in the University Square of Bucharest. This paper is presenting two less known sculptures attributed to Carrier, now in the collections of Art Museum in Ploiesti. The two sculptures have a functional role bearing electric lights and being used as chandeliers for the
monumental stair ends of the Museum.
